Definitely
have a bit of a 'berry' theme happening here, and I'm okay with that.
Here
are five of my favourite beauty things for autumn:
Most
of the time I cannot be bothered to paint my nails (so time consuming, not to
mention when I'm done it looks like a five-year old has attempted the paint
job), but Essie's 'Wicked' is a pretty darn good motivator to get the job done.
It's definitely more of a vampy shade, which intimidated me at first, but on
the nails it has such a gorgeous bordeaux-y, red wine hue that I love. Fall
staple indeed.
Lip
colour that's easy to apply on the go (sans-mirror) while being highly moisturizing?
Yes please!
If
you haven't already got on the Fresh Tinted Lip Balm bandwagon, you're seriously
missing out. The formula for these is everything, the smell, texture, colour pigmentation, all spot on. I've tried all the colours in the range (except Tulip) but
this season; I particularly love the shade 'Berry'. It does look quite dark and
somewhat intimidating in the tube, but it applies very sheer on the lips,
or can be amped up to be more full-on depending on your preference.
It's
no wonder this is one of the top selling perfumes at Sephora. It smells utterly amazing. I may stray from time to time, but
I always come back to this and am so glad when I do. It's the
perfect mix between girly and sophisticated and is perfect for fall, day or
night. Here's how Stella McCartney describes the sent: "A
fragrance based on the contrast between the freshness and softness of the rose,
and the dark sensuality of amber Stella
is a sophisticated scent focused on an intense sense of femininity". It looks like the rollerball
is not so easy to get your hands on these days, however, it now comes in a travel spray size
which is genius.
Again
with the berry/purply theme. Smashbox's 'Sepia' trio contains three beautiful
matte shades: ‘Antique- dirty plum grey, Clay- rich dirty plum, and Alabaster- matte
bisque’.
Trio
eyeshadows are so easy to use, completely taking out the guess work out of
which colours work well together to make the perfect eye look (this one even
has a 'how-to' on the back). You can apply a wash of the lighter colour all
over the lid, sweep the middle shade in the crease, and if desired pop a bit of
the darker shade in the corners to smoke it out, or along the lash line as a
liner for a more defined look. Easy as 1, 2, 3 (literally).
I’ve never tried a loose-pigment blush before or any Bare Minerals
products for that matter, but I’m definitely glad I did. Described as
'sweetheart rose', this blush is such a pretty colour. I would say it's a dusty
rose-ish shade, part coral, part pink, part brown, it's so lovely and I can't
get enough. It's a versatile enough colour that you can get away with wearing
it with a variety of shadow looks. Admittedly, the formula is a bit 'messy' and
hard to work with (it definitely took me some practice to figure out how to
best apply this) and I will say use a very light hand as it is extremely pigmented.
I found it easiest to get the tiniest amount in the lid and tap off as much as
you can into the main pot. Then every so lightly dip your blush brush of choice
(I have been applying it with an EcoTools blush brush) into the lid, picking up
the tiniest amount as possible (it's always easier to go in after and add more
if needed) then blending it out on the high points of the cheeks. This tiny
little sample seems like it will last forever since a little goes a long way.
Definitely need to test out the other colours from the range, which look
equally as beautiful.
